Recycled Paper Garden Mural/ Mother's Day Cards

Fun Friday Project/Mother's Day Creations

I wanted a big art project to hang out in the hallway since it's that time to give the kids all their art. I hate when the hallways are empty..so I made this big "garden" with paper and showed the kids how to make big flowers. I did this lesson with K-3 and it turned out great!

I referenced my "Be smART" chart...2nd grade just finished making paper gardens...so we could get ideas from these samples.

Here's our scrap bin...it doesn't normally look like this...we had been 'digging' for colors.

Some kids chose to create a pop up Mother's Day Card before making a flower for the garden.

Our finished garden!

Penguins in Antarctica

First we painted a cool color background with tempera paint. I encouraged them to create a pattern.

I had two tables set up as the "snow stations"...once they had painting all the white space of their background, they could come add dots of snow with wooden sticks and white tempera paint.

Day Two: Creating Penguins...we did a step-by-step process using construction paper.

Group Project Option: I did a collaborative Antarctica collage with some other classes for our upcoming art show. This was really fun! Minecraft penguins were pretty popular with the boys.

Magazine Bowl Sculptures

Magazine Bowl Sculptures....

I talked a little bit about this project in my post about Auction Projects but here's some of the bowls the kids made. I'll add more photos of the others soon!

Below you see the kids painting on the mod podge as the final step.

Here's how I constructed the abstract sculptures.
